【摘要】:Unlessthereisapropermatchbetweentheexpansionsoftheglazeandthebody,allglazedwhitewaresmaycontainresidualstressesfromthefiringthatbondedtheglazetothebody.Inaddition,whitewaresareincreasinglysubjectedtothermalstressesinservice.Hence,animportantusecriterionforaglazedwhitewareisadequateresistancetorepeatedabruptthermalchanges.Inmostcases,theresultofinadequateresistancetothermalshockistheappearanceofacrazepatternintheglaze.Thiscrazepatternisvisiblebyinspectionwithobliquelightingandapplicationofasuitableinkordye.Thistestmethodisapplicabletovitreouswhitewaresthathavenegligiblecrazingasaresultofmoistureexpansion.Fornonvitreousandsemivitreousbodies,refertoTestMethodC424.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistancetocrazingoffired,glazed,ceramicwhitewareswhenstressesresidualafterglostfiringmaycauseatendencytocraze,suchstressesbeinginducedbyfactorsotherthanmoistureexpansion.1.2Thistestisnotintendedtoinducemoistureexpansion,whichfactshouldbekeptinmindifthematerialstobeevaluatedmayexhibitmoistureexpansion.Note1TestMethodC424coversamethodfordeterminingresistancetocrazinginducedbymoistureexpansion.Itsuseisgenerallyconfinedtotestingnonvitreousandsemivitreousceramicwhitewaresbecausetheseproductsmaybesubjecttosuchexpansion.Forwhitewareswithnegligiblemoistureexpansion(suchasvitreousandimperviousware),thethermalshockmethoddescribedhereinisgenerallytobepreferred.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeWarningin.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.
